SINGAPORE — Are you fashion-forward, trendy and in love with all things shoe-related? Well you just might be the country’s next Replica Christian Louboutin or Manolo Blahnik.
National footwear design competition The Art of Replica Shoes is once again looking for aspiring shoe designers for its second installment.
Organized by the Textile and Fashion Industry Training Centre and supported by trendy homegrown shoe label Pazzion as well as agencies such as Employment and Employability Institute (e2i) and the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA), the competition aims to give Singaporeans and Permanent Residents the opportunity to take their first step into the world of footwear design.
Contestants will go through a four-day Workforce Skills Qualificatrions (WSQ) Draw Digital Footwear course that is worth $190, where they will learn skills required to enable them to develop and sketch footwear designs.
These include sketching, learning how to take designs from paper to digital using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop as well as how to draw various shoe designs and render them.
As part of the competition, participants will be required to design one ballerina shoe, one ladies’ wedge sandal and one ladies’ high heel court shoe outlet. Their designs will be submitted at the end of the training.
Eight finalists will then be chosen for the competition, and their designs will be showcased at the Singapore Fashion Week 2016 runway, scheduled October 28. The winner will get a sponsored trip to MICAM Milano 2017, the world’s leading footwear fair held in Milan in September next year, and receive a scholarship to the WSQ Diploma in Fashion Technology (Footwear Design and Product Development) worth more than $200. They will also get $80 cash.
Founder and director of Pazzion Tom Ng said they hope to “identify local design talents and groom them for the world stage” through this competition. “I’m excited to see their fresh interpretations on the three classic replica shoes and look forward to mentoring the winner.”
The Art of cheap Christian Louboutin Shoes Design Competition is open to Singaporeans and Permanent Residents. Registration will close on June 30. More details can be found on www.lifeofchristianlouboutin.co.uk.
